A person's roots begin from the place where his/her parents and other ancestors had been living for a long time and extend to social texture around, to the Nation and lastly to the humanity spread all over the globe. We human-beings have grown into being social animals over the human history of the last 2,500 years or so when most of the humans had been living at fixed places quitting their wild wandering lifestyle. The resulting society and the environment of one's birth offer a multitude of material and social nutrients naturally to the person to survive happily provided the person remains attached to the roots. This view of mine is based on my very personal experiences.
In 1995, I moved to Rajasthan state of India for living differently from the routine ways of life in my home state of U.P. where I was born and had been living for a long time then after living for about a dozen years in various other states of India. I had been doing my studies and research on ancient History of India through rediscovering scriptures. My discoveries were shocking which I began telling to people in my contact through verbal and written notes which were liked by some and disliked by some others. One day, a police officer visited me and arrested me for charges on hurting religious feelings of people. Police asked me to get a bail on the guarantee of two local persons for which I had no such person who would bail me out. At that moment, I realized the importance of one's roots. After the case was closed, I moved to my own native place where I am enjoying life as a highly respected person.
People treat me with with dignity not only for my high education but for my being descendant of a highly respected, socially conscientious and helpful family of the area. This is a bonus for me available free of cost just for my being connected to my roots. This is the greatest legacy I inherit from my parents.
In the global village of today created by Internet connectivity, people have a very high degree of freedom of knowing and moving to foreign lands through their dreams of being wealthier and happier but they get uprooted in the process from their respective native environments. They may get wealthier but the happiness they had sought eludes them until they return to their roots.
